Shoes can make or break an outfit, and although guys often think that one pair of boots is going to cut it, they are wrong. Many different types of shoes are called for on different occasions! There are five must-have shoes in every guy’s wardrobe to fit any outfit or occasion and keep a guy prepared for any part of his life:
1. Low top sneaker
Low top sneakers are a casual sneaker, and every wardrobe needs a casual outfit. Whether it be a night out with the boys or a small get-together, these shoes pair well with any casual outfit. They also offer the chance of wearing fun socks or rocking the shoes by themselves.
2. High top sneaker
All sneakers are casual shoes, but this type of sneaker is more of a cold-weather casual. This is a perfect choice for colder winter or fall days with chinos or jeans. This could be good for a classroom or even more casual workplaces. These are not formal by any means, but they are a step up from low tops.
3. Chelsea boot
These versatile shoes are the best of both worlds. A guy can rock a Chelsea boot with both formal and informal attire– the formality of the boot is determined by the clothes that surround it! These are more rugged than other men’s dress shoes on the market, but come in neutral colors, so even if they aren’t perfect, they don’t stand out in a crowd. If you aren’t sure exactly what the dress code is, this type of boot is a great choice.
4. Moto boot
The more educated fashion lovers will know that this isn’t just any boot, ‘moto’ stands for motorcycle. This can be intimidating. How do you pull off a boot with such a specific purpose? This boot can be worn with edgier or rougher outfits to give the look an urban feel. This can be described as a ‘cool guy boot’; it’s dark, usually black, and sometimes features shiny hardware. It’s not a professional or formal boot, but it certainly has it’s time, and it’s a great statement piece.
5. Oxfords
These shoes are more formal. They have a sleek design that pairs well with dress pants or a suit. They normally come in muted colors that also fit in well at the office. These are typically worn in traditional office formats, where a suit is required every day. This is probably the most important pair to have in your wardrobe, because if you don’t have a pair of Oxfords, professional jobs, high-class dinners and weddings are going to be rough events.
6. Dress boot
Last but certainly not least is the dress boot. It may seem like this boot is only for formal occasions (hence ‘dress’ boot) but this is actually a very versatile boot. Boots are known for being sturdy and long-lasting, and this type of boot is no different. That is one of the many reasons that it is accepted in so many settings– in the past, when men only had one pair of shoes, they chose a boot for its sturdy material and wore it on every occasion. Although it might not fit in during a University Lecture or at a wedding, these boots can be worn virtually anywhere. In doubt? Go with the boots.
